Do SMARTY Do Refer a Friend?

Yes. SMARTY has a Refer a Friend scheme that rewards both the new customer and the existing customer who referred them.

The reward depends on the monthly price of the new customer’s qualifying plan and can currently be worth up to £20 each. SMARTY offers rewards through PayPal or a choice of digital gift cards.

Do SMARTY Do Refer a Friend

Do SMARTY still do Refer a Friend in 2026?

Yes. SMARTY’s Refer a Friend scheme is still available in 2026.

An existing SMARTY customer shares their personal referral link with someone who is not already a customer.

The new customer then:

  1. Opens the referral link.
  2. Chooses a SMARTY plan.
  3. Orders and activates a SIM or eSIM.
  4. Keeps the plan active.
  5. Completes the required renewals.
  6. Receives an email allowing them to choose their reward.

SMARTY says its referral links do not expire, and existing customers can share them with multiple friends.

How much is the SMARTY Refer a Friend reward?

The standard reward depends on the monthly price of the plan used by the new customer when they qualify.

The current reward tiers are:

  • £5 each on plans costing £9.99 or less
  • £10 each on plans costing between £10 and £14.99
  • £20 each on plans costing £15 or more

Both the new customer and the person who referred them receive the same reward.

The available reward options can include:

  • PayPal cash
  • Amazon.co.uk gift card
  • John Lewis & Partners gift card
  • Waitrose gift card
  • Uber gift card
  • Uber Eats gift card

SMARTY can change the reward values or run temporary promotions, so check the current offer before joining.

Use the referral link before placing your order so SMARTY can connect your new account to the referral.

Choose the plan that suits your actual data use rather than taking a more expensive plan only to receive a larger one-off reward.

How does the SMARTY referral work?

The referral is recorded when the new customer joins through the existing customer’s personal link.

The new customer must activate their SIM or eSIM and remain with SMARTY long enough to meet the qualifying conditions.

SMARTY uses Buyapowa to manage the referral programme and send the reward emails. The referral FAQ says the new customer must purchase and activate their SIM and remain with SMARTY for two months before the reward process is completed.

The exact qualifying date is set out in the current SMARTY referral terms.

When will I receive the SMARTY reward?

The reward is not issued immediately after ordering a SIM.

The new customer must first activate their plan and complete the required period of service.

SMARTY’s current terms say Buyapowa should send the reward email no later than 30 days after the qualifying date.

Check your spam or junk folder if the email does not appear.

Once the reward email arrives, follow the instructions before the claim period expires.

Is there a SMARTY referral code?

SMARTY mainly uses a referral link rather than a code that you manually type into a box.

The referral details are contained within the link.

Opening that link before ordering tells SMARTY which existing customer referred you.

SMARTY may also issue linked referral SIM cards, but using the online referral link is normally the simplest method.

Can existing SMARTY customers use a referral link?

An existing SMARTY customer cannot normally use someone else’s referral link to claim a new-customer reward on their existing plan.

Existing customers can instead find their own referral link in the SMARTY dashboard or app and share it with someone who is not already a customer.

SMARTY says an active plan is required before a customer can make referrals.

Can I join a SMARTY Group plan?

Be careful about joining a SMARTY Group plan too soon after using a referral.

SMARTY’s referral terms include conditions around Group plans during the initial qualifying period. Moving into a Group too early may prevent the referral reward from qualifying.

Wait until the reward conditions have been met before changing the account structure.

Can I cancel after joining?

SMARTY plans normally run on a one-month rolling basis, but cancelling or pausing before the referral qualifies can mean both people lose the reward.

Remain on an active qualifying plan until SMARTY confirms that the referral conditions have been met.

After that, you can decide whether to continue, change plan or leave based on the service and value you receive.

Is SMARTY Refer a Friend worth using?

Yes, provided SMARTY is a good mobile network for you.

The referral reward is a useful extra, but the main decision should depend on:

  • SMARTY coverage where you live and work
  • The monthly plan cost
  • Data allowance
  • Roaming terms
  • Online-only customer support
  • Whether you want a one-month rolling plan
  • How the Three network performs in your area

Do not choose a weaker mobile service solely for a one-off reward.
