Is Octopus Agile expensive?
Agile is not inherently expensive, but it can be at the wrong times. The average cost over a year can be lower than the price cap if you avoid peak periods.
The expensive part is typically the early evening window, especially in winter as wholesale prices rise. If most of your electricity use happens then, Agile will feel costly.
If you can move usage to overnight or daytime low-price slots, the opposite can be true. Many households see very cheap rates for EV charging, batteries and hot water.
So whether Agile is expensive depends more on behaviour than the tariff itself. It rewards flexibility and punishes rigid usage patterns.
