Is Octopus Agile still worth it?

Octopus Agile can still be worth it, but only for the right households.

Agile tracks half-hourly wholesale prices, so costs rise and fall every day. If you can shift usage away from the 4pm–7pm peak, it can be cheaper than standard tariffs over a full year.

Homes with solar, batteries, EVs or heat pumps tend to benefit most, especially if they automate charging and heating around low-price periods.

The key is accepting short-term volatility. Some days will be expensive, particularly in winter evenings. Over time, many users still beat the price cap, but it requires engagement.

If you want a hands-off tariff with predictable bills, Agile is probably not for you.
