Is there an Octopus EV charger discount code?

There is not currently an Octopus EV charger discount code that you copy and enter during checkout.

The offer works through a personal referral link instead.

When you open the referral link, you provide your name and email address. Octopus then uses that email address to match your referral registration with your later charger enquiry and installation.

Although many people search for an Octopus EV charger discount code, the current offer is a referral reward paid after installation rather than an upfront reduction from the quoted price.

The process is:

1. Open the referral link.
2. Enter your name and email address.
3. Use the same email address when requesting your charger quote.
4. Complete an eligible Octopus EV charger installation.
5. Receive your £25 digital gift card after installation.

The referral should be registered before you begin the ordering process.

How does the Octopus EV charger referral work?

The referral link records your contact details before you request an EV charger quote.

Octopus then matches your referral registration with your charger order using the email address you provided.

Once the qualifying installation is complete:

• You receive a £25 digital gift card.
• I receive a £25 digital gift card for referring you.

The reward is not normally issued when you request a quote or place the order. The charger installation must first be completed.

How much is the Octopus EV charger reward?

The current EV charger referral reward is:

• £25 digital gift card for the person having the charger installed
• £25 digital gift card for the existing customer who referred them

That makes the total referral reward £50, split equally between both people.

The EV charger reward is lower than the current referral rewards available for some Octopus heat pump and solar installations.

Referral values can change, so check the amount shown on the Octopus referral page before registering.

Is the £25 reward an upfront discount?

No. The £25 is not normally deducted from the EV charger price shown in your quote.

You pay the agreed installation price and receive the digital gift card after the qualifying charger installation has been completed.

It is therefore better described as a referral reward than an upfront discount.

In practical terms, it still reduces your overall cost by £25, provided the installation qualifies and the gift card is issued.

Who can use the Octopus EV charger referral?

The referral offer is intended for someone arranging an eligible home EV charger installation through Octopus Energy.

You do not necessarily need to be an existing Octopus Energy electricity customer to request a charger installation.

However:

• Your property must meet Octopus’s installation requirements.
• The charger installation must qualify for the referral scheme.
• You must register through the referral link before requesting your quote.
• You must use the same email address throughout.
• The installation must be completed before the gift card is issued.

The referral scheme does not guarantee that Octopus will be able to install a charger at every property.

Do I need to be an Octopus Energy customer?

You do not currently need to be supplied with electricity by Octopus Energy to request an EV charger installation.

The charger referral is separate from the standard Octopus Energy supplier-switching referral scheme.

However, an Octopus electricity tariff may be worth considering if you want to use a smart EV tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go after the charger is installed.

Tariff eligibility depends on your vehicle, charger, smart meter and other account requirements.

Which Octopus EV chargers qualify?

Octopus sells a range of home EV chargers, including models that may work with its smart charging tariffs.

The exact charger range, prices and compatibility can change.

Your available options may depend on:

• Where the charger will be installed
• Mobile or internet connectivity
• Whether you want to use Intelligent Octopus Go
• Any additional electrical work required

Can I use the referral with Intelligent Octopus Go?

The charger referral and Intelligent Octopus Go are separate offers.

The referral rewards you for completing an eligible Octopus charger installation.

Intelligent Octopus Go is an electricity tariff that provides cheaper charging periods when used with a compatible vehicle or charger.

Having an Octopus charger installed does not automatically guarantee eligibility for Intelligent Octopus Go. Compatibility and account requirements still apply.

Can existing Octopus customers use the offer?

Yes. The EV charger installation referral is not limited to people switching their household electricity supply to Octopus.

An existing Octopus customer can use an eligible smart technology referral link when arranging a charger installation, subject to the current scheme terms.

This is different from the standard Octopus Refer a Friend supplier-switching offer, which is aimed at new energy customers.

Can the referral be added after requesting a quote?

You should not rely on the referral being added retrospectively.

Register through the referral link before requesting your EV charger quote and use the same email address for both.

If you have already started the ordering process without registering, contact Octopus and ask whether the referral can still be linked to your enquiry.

Octopus may be able to help, but the reward is not guaranteed if the referral was not registered first.

How do I know the referral has been recorded?

After submitting your details through the referral link, keep any confirmation email or message you receive.

It is also sensible to:

• You pay a deposit.
• An installation date is booked.
