Octopus Heat Pump Referral

The Octopus heat pump referral scheme gives you a £100 gift card after an eligible Octopus Energy heat pump installation is completed.

The person who referred you also receives a £100 gift card.

You can view the current customer offer, learn more about Octopus as an installer and begin the referral journey through my dedicated Trusted Heat Pump Installers page:

How does the Octopus heat pump referral work?

The Octopus heat pump referral works through a personal referral link.

The usual process is:

  1. Open the referral route before beginning your application.
  2. Provide the requested contact details.
  3. Request an Octopus heat pump quote.
  4. Complete the survey and final system design.
  5. Accept the final proposal if it suits your home.
  6. Complete the heat pump installation.
  7. Receive the £100 gift card after Octopus confirms that the installation qualifies.

Octopus says the customer and referrer each receive a £100 gift card once the qualifying heat pump installation is complete.

The reward is not normally issued when you request a quote or book a survey.

Use the Octopus heat pump referral route

You can begin through my dedicated Octopus installer page:

See the £100 Octopus heat pump customer offer

That page includes:

  • The current customer reward
  • My view of Octopus as a national installer
  • The main strengths and limitations of its approach
  • Questions to ask before accepting a quote
  • A tracked route to request an Octopus heat pump quote
  • My full Octopus Energy interview

Check that the customer offer is shown before submitting your details.

How much is the Octopus heat pump referral reward?

The current heat pump referral reward is:

  • £100 gift card for the person having the heat pump installed
  • £100 gift card for the person who referred them

That is a total reward of £200, split equally between the customer and referrer.

It is a post-installation reward rather than an upfront reduction from the heat pump quote.

Referral values and conditions can change, so confirm the current offer before starting your application.

Is there an Octopus heat pump referral code?

There is not normally a conventional Octopus heat pump referral code that you type into a box during checkout.

The scheme works through a personal referral link.

Opening the link and registering your details allows Octopus to connect the later heat pump enquiry and installation to the referral.

For a fuller explanation, see:

Octopus Heat Pump Referral Code

Do I need to use the referral before requesting a quote?

Use the referral route before starting your heat pump enquiry.

Do not assume that Octopus will add a referral after you have already requested a quote, booked a survey or accepted an installation proposal.

Using the referral route first gives Octopus the best chance of matching your enquiry with the customer offer.

Use the same email address throughout the process unless Octopus tells you otherwise.

When is the £100 gift card paid?

The customer reward is linked to completion of the qualifying installation.

It is not normally paid when:

  • You register your interest
  • You request an online estimate
  • Octopus contacts you
  • The survey is booked
  • The survey is completed
  • You accept the quote
  • You pay any initial amount
  • The installation date is arranged

The heat pump installation must first be completed and confirmed as eligible.

Allow time after installation for Octopus to verify the referral and issue the gift card.

Do I need to be an Octopus Energy customer?

A heat pump installation is a separate decision from switching your household electricity supply.

Do not assume that you must already be supplied by Octopus before requesting a heat pump quote.

However, Octopus may also discuss its electricity tariffs, including options designed for heat pump households.

Check the current installation and referral conditions directly with Octopus when you apply.

The suitability of Octopus as your energy supplier should be assessed separately from whether it is the right heat pump installer for your home.

Is Octopus Energy a good heat pump installer?

Octopus is one of the national heat pump installers I believe homeowners should consider.

Its scale can provide:

  • Competitive headline pricing
  • A clear journey from quote to installation
  • A standardised installation process
  • Access to performance data from a large fleet
  • Support from a national organisation
  • Integration with Octopus tariffs and controls

That does not mean Octopus will suit every property.

A standardised approach can work well for straightforward homes but may be less suitable where the property has:

  • Unusual heat-loss characteristics
  • Complex pipework
  • Limited cylinder space
  • Difficult outdoor-unit locations
  • Several heating zones
  • Specialist emitters
  • Heritage constraints
  • Non-standard hot-water requirements

The final survey and design matter more than the early online estimate.

What should I check in an Octopus heat pump quote?

Before accepting the final quote, check:

  1. The calculated design heat loss
  2. The proposed heat pump output
  3. The design outdoor temperature
  4. The proposed flow temperature
  5. Which radiators will be changed
  6. Whether any pipework needs replacing
  7. The hot-water cylinder size and location
  8. The outdoor-unit position
  9. Electrical work included in the quote
  10. Planning and noise considerations
  11. Controls and weather compensation
  12. Aftercare and support
  13. What changed after the survey
  14. The final price after the grant

Do not assess the proposal only from the heat pump brand or headline cost.

The system design determines whether the home stays comfortable and how efficiently the heat pump runs.

How much does an Octopus heat pump cost?

The final cost depends on the property and the work found during the survey.

Possible cost factors include:

  • Heat pump size
  • Radiator replacements
  • Pipework changes
  • Hot-water cylinder
  • Electrical upgrades
  • Outdoor-unit location
  • Scaffolding or access
  • Groundwork
  • Removal of the old heating system
  • Planning requirements
  • Additional building work

Eligible installations in England and Wales may qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

Treat an early online quote as an estimate until the full survey and design are complete.

Does Octopus install its own heat pump?

Octopus installs its Cosy heat pump range and may also offer other equipment depending on the property, product range and current installation programme.

The exact model offered is less important than whether the final system is correctly sized and designed.

Ask for:

  • The exact model
  • Rated output at the design conditions
  • Expected seasonal efficiency
  • Proposed design flow temperature
  • Noise information
  • Warranty details
  • Controls and monitoring
  • Backup-heater arrangements

Actual efficiency depends on the home, system design, weather and how the heating is operated.

Can I use an Octopus heat pump with the Cosy tariff?

Octopus offers the Cosy electricity tariff for heat pump households.

Whether it reduces your costs depends on:

  • How much heating can use the cheaper periods
  • The daytime and peak rates
  • Your heat pump efficiency
  • Hot-water timing
  • Whether you have a home battery
  • Your comfort requirements
  • Your household electricity use

A heat pump usually works best when it runs steadily at a low flow temperature.

Avoid forcing all space heating into short cheap windows if doing so increases flow temperatures, reduces comfort or harms efficiency.

Compare the whole tariff rather than looking only at the cheapest rate.

It is useful if you want more detail before requesting a quote or comparing Octopus with another installer.

Should I get more than one heat pump quote?

Yes.

Even where Octopus looks competitive, it is sensible to compare the proposal with at least one other installer.

Different installers may propose:

  • A different heat pump size
  • Different radiator upgrades
  • A different flow temperature
  • Alternative cylinder arrangements
  • Different pipework changes
  • Different controls
  • Different levels of monitoring
  • Different aftercare

A lower quote is not necessarily better if important work has been excluded.

Equally, a higher quote is not automatically evidence of a better design.

Compare the figures, assumptions and included work.
