What is the Cosy Octopus tariff?

Cosy Octopus is a smart electricity tariff designed for homes that heat with electricity, particularly heat pumps, electric boilers and electric radiators.

Instead of a single cheap overnight rate, Octopus Cosy is a three-rate heat pump tariff. It gives you 8 hours of cheaper “Cosy Hours” every day (4–7 am, 1–4 pm and 10 pm–midnight) and a higher rate from 4–7 pm

The savings come from shifting as much heating and hot water as possible into those lower-priced slots, while minimising use in the expensive peak window.

Cosy works best with smart controls and systems that can store heat in the building fabric or hot water cylinder, rather than needing constant on-demand heating.
